    Watershed Development Programme

    We are doing this Watershed Development Programme in ten villages of Distt. Pauri, since last 05 years with support of NABARD. This project has very positive impact in this area.

Himalaya Institute of Rural Awakening (HIRA)

The Himalayan Institute for Rural Awakening (HIRA) has been continuously working in the field of social and economic development for the last 23 years. With the cooperation of various people of the society, we are constantly striving to achieve our objectives. Our efforts have brought a positive change in the lives of hundreds of families and the standard of living has also improved.

The board members and team members of HIRA remain united and strive for continuous development work. During the work, different types of challenges have to be faced. Despite the challenges, we worked continuously on our main tasks like women empowerment, clean administration, livelihood earning, environment protection, watershed development, dalit/minority development etc. This year also we have focused more on the needy children. Apart from other programmes, Childline (1098) service is running very effectively in Pauri in collaboration with Childline India Foundation and Ministry of Women and Child Development, New Delhi. Even during the Corona epidemic, the entire team of the organization was readily engaged in serving the people.

With the support of our governing board members, teammates, donor organizations and other stakeholders, we strive for our mission every year. We are grateful to all of the above.

  • HIV-AIDS-Control-Program

    HIV/AIDS Control Program

    With the aim of preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS, the Targeted Intervention program in collaboration with the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) and the Uttarakhand State AIDS Control Society (USACS) is being operated by our organization in Roorkee (Haridwar) for the last 13 years. This program is being run among 950 identified high-risk groups in Roorkee city and surrounding areas.

  • CHILDLINE-1098-Program

    CHILDLINE (1098) Program

    From the year September 2019, our organization started Child Helpline-1098 service in Pauri. Childline is a 24x7 emergency service for children jointly operated by the CHILDLINE INDIA FOUNDATION (CIF) and the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India at the national level. Under this program, the staffs of our organization are available 24 hours a day to help those children who are in any kind of problem and ask us for help.

  • Training-of-Gram-Panchayat-Representatives

    Training of Gram Panchayat Representatives

    Under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, in collaboration with the Uttarakhand Panchayati Raj Department, this year we organized 02 two-days training for the representatives of three-tier Panchayats (Gram Panchayat, block Panchayat, District Panchayat). The training was conducted for all the Gram Panchayat representatives in two phases.

  • Operation-of-Homeopathy-Clinic

    Operation of Homeopathy Clinic

    In this financial year, our organization with the help of Tehri Hydro Development Corporation (SEWA-THDC) operated a total of 03 homeopathy dispensaries at Semmukhem and Pokhri in District Tehri and Dhauntari in district Uttarkashi, as in the previous year. The objective of this dispensary is to provide free homeopathic medicine to the villagers in the remote areas of the hilly districts.

6. To organise income generation programme & training for women, minorities & SC/ST communities.
7. Awareness towards water conservation & environment.
8. To link the unemployed youths & farmers with income generating activities.
9. To raise the difficulties of the people in the working area at proper platform and try for its salvation.

Completed Projects

      Herbal Promotion Programme

      This proramme was supported by NABARD. Under this programme about 120 farmers from 12 villages are engaged in herbal production.

      Leadership Development Programme

      We organised workshops on leadership Development from 2012-13 to 2014-15 for 1425 Minority women of Distt. Haridwar with support of Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govt. of India, New Delhi.

    • azolla-production-programme

      Azolla Production Programme

      We had completed a project on Azolla production with training and demonstration in 10 villages of Distt. Haridwar under Distt. Innovation Fund with support of U.K. Govt.

    • disaster-relief-programme

      Disaster Relief Programme

      Villages of Yamkeshwar block (Pauri) faced heavy rain & cloud burst on 14 & 15th Aug. 2014. This disaster was very dangerous and loss of human lives along with animals, houses and cow-shelter occurred to great extent.

Our Achievements in 2022 - 2023

  • 1000 high risk group people were benefitted with health checkup facilities, medicines and counseling from HIV/AIDs programme.

  • 316 children who were in different types of problems got support as financial, medical, counseling, freedom from child labor and legal from our childline 1098 programme.

  • By providing technical training to more than 120 youths, they were connected with employment and were successful in improving their standard of living.
